Sharon Howell - Born and raised in the Columbia area, Sharon is no stranger to the dance world. With over 25 years of teaching experience, Sharon began her training at Sha -Mar Dance Studios in middle school and continued dancing throughout college with the University of South Carolina Dance Company. After graduating, Sharon took over Sha -Mar Dance Studios in Irmo , SC and went on to own the school for another 7 years before selling. In 2000, after a short hiatus from teaching, Sharon joined the staff of the Columbia Conservatory of Dance. In 2002, she was appointed head of the Tap Department and in 2003 took over as Artistic Director of the Columbia City Tap Company. In 2005, she and her daughter Ashley created CC Dance Company which now has 50 members competing in jazz, tap, ballet, lyrical, hip hop, and musical theatre. Several of her students have taken top honors at several competitions throughout the Southeast. In addition to attending numerous competitions, Sharon also attends workshops yearly to ensure she is always up to date on the latest teaching methods and styles. Sharon, in addition to teaching, owns Movements Dance & Activewear , a dancewear store in Irmo , SC.
